Nadia RAIS was born in Tunis where she obtained a master’s degree in art sciences and techniques at the School of Fine Arts in Tunis. As a visual artist, she participates in several exhibitions such as Imago Mundi (Luciano Benetton Collection), she resides at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris and produces in parallel short animation films “L’Ambouba”, “L’Mrayet”, “Survival visa”, “Briska” and “Kendila”. Nadia RAIS uses an artistic technique developed in her films as well as in her paintings and which, in its evolution during several residencies, confirms well her style.

Born in 1984 in Abidjan, Christian KOUAME is of Ivorian nationality. He is a young entrepreneur, producer and director of 3d animation films, obtained his advanced diploma in 3D animation technology at Accel Animation Academy in India in the years 2008- 2010 after his Bachelor’s degree in Applied Computer Science obtained also in 2010 at Bangalore University in India. His professional life begins at Accel Animation Studios in Chennai (India) as a 3D VFX Artist. He will also be a 3D Trainer in Thailand in 2013 and then return during the same year in Ivory Coast to found The Brain Studios which is a studio specialized in 3D animation, special effects and commercials.

Synopsis

In Kangaba in the deep Manding where the ancestors of certain families have pledged allegiance to the genies of the bush, transforming into hyenas, reptiles and other animals is a power accessible to all as long as they are initiated. The rivalry between Kangaba and its neighboring village Kilidougou has reached the point of no return. The advisors of the wise men, members of a secret society, have violently forbidden certain practices such as marriage between the people of Kangaba and its neighbor Kilidougou. Fady, the granddaughter of the spiritual guide Ba Kalifa of Kilidougou, is a very enlightened girl. Announced long before her birth by the elders as a messiah who would reunite all the communities, she will defy all the rules of these tribes. She forms a love relationship with Lamissa. Cheick Ahmadou Ouattara was born in 1978 in Bamako, Mali. In Bamako Badalabougou, he did his primary studies. Passionate about drawing and graphic design, which he got from a mother who was a math teacher and a father who was an engineer and architect, he was selected among the best in drawing in Bamako for a two-year accelerated training by the Koreans. He then did his secondary studies at the Lycée Cheikh Anta Diop de Faso Kanu in Bamako where he obtained his Baccalaureate in exact sciences with top prizes in drawing. He continued his higher education at the Faculty of Sciences of Bamako (Sciences of the matter), where he fell in love with cinema and computer graphics. With his knowledge in mathematics (D.E.U.G in higher mathematics) and a self-taught formation in graphic oriented development, he created a company ” Virtual 3D Communication ” specialized in special effects FX cinema and 3D animation for advertising and cinema. His first scenarios were in the field of advertising for large structures such as L’Oréal Morocco, Sony Morocco (in 3D spots). He has to his credit educational films (3D animation film to raise awareness in rural areas) for some NGOs and also for the national channel of Mali.

Begho

Synopsis

A discovery of the market of Begho, a West African trading town, in the 16th century, through the eyes of a little girl named Kassi. Begho is an ancient trading center at the crossroads of several trade routes, occupied between the 11th and 18th centuries. Begho is mentioned and documented in several written sources on West Africa, pre-colonial Ghana and in oral tradition.

Victoria ARYEE is an archaeologist and assistant lecturer in archaeology and heritage studies. She defines herself as a performing artist and has an interest in art and cultural heritage. She was born and educated in Ghana. She is a PhD candidate in the Department of Archaeology and Heritage Studies at the University of Ghana. She is passionate about encouraging the application of heritage, archaeological studies and tourism as tools for socio-economic development.

Daniel KUMAH is a doctoral student at the University of Toulouse II Jean Jaurès in France and a lecturer at the University of Ghana, Legon. Since 2017, the Begho site in Ghana has been the focus of his research. Daniel’s research interests include Iron Age societies, urbanization, trans-Saharan archaeology, museum and heritage studies.

Dubien Fortune TSETE was born on September 14, 1995 in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, to a father who is a police officer and a mother who is a laboratory technician. After studying law at the Faculty of Law Marien Ngouabi and computer science at the African School of Development EAD where he obtained a BTS in computer programming. Between 2010 and 2016, he followed an in-depth training in computer-assisted imaging and to the art of modern cinema on online training platforms. In 2017, he works as an external consultant in Visual Creation at the local channel TOPTV in Brazzaville and then as a graphic manager at the House DECOUVERTE CONGO. At the origin of a dozen attempts to produce and direct 2D and 3D animation films, Dubien Fortune TSETE has always dreamed of discovering his potential in the sector of animated films in Congo. From 3D modeling to animation, from editing to digital special effects, he is very fulfilled in the manipulation of the image on computer.

Ery Claver is one of the most versatile filmmakers in Angola. He began his career as a cameraman, working on numerous television programs and documentaries. As a director, he has signed several short films, most notably Lucy in the Sky with Traffic Lights (2018) in and Enóquio que não tinha coração (2020). Ery has had his work screened at several international festivals. In 2019, Ery went on to co-write and do the direction of photography of the award winning Angolan film Air Conditioner, directed by Fradique.

In Burkina Faso, in the gold panning site of Kalgouli, 16 years old Rasmané goes down to more than 100 meters in artisanal mines for gold. Worried by potential accidents, torn by his parents’ doubts, Rasmané makes his way through this fierce adult world hoping for emancipation and better life, at the cost of his innocence. Gold panning is corrupting, moving you abruptly from childhood to adulthood, as it corrupts its natural environment through pollution and destruction.

Boubacar Sangaré is a writer-director and also a lawyer specializing in film law. In 2015 he co-directed a TV documentary on the 2014 social uprising in Burkina Faso and went on to develop two feature films Or de vie and Djéliya, mémoire du mandingue. He worked as Africa Cooperation Mission Officer at CNC and TV5Monde Afrique Programme Officer. In 2021, he was a member of FESPACO International selection committee.

Ananias Léki Dago studied photography at the School of Fine Arts in Abidjan (1990‐1993). He is also the initiator of the month of photography in Abidjan, “Les Rencontres du Sud”, held in 2000 and 2002. His work has been presented in numerous international exhibitions and prestigious collections such as The Philadelphia Museum of Art in the United States. Ananias takes his first steps in cinema with a documentary film, he has directed, about the life of Paul Kodjo: Je reste photographe.
