Mami Wata : le mystère d’Iveza

Synopsis

Young journalist Oliwina returns to her hometown of Agouwé in Gabon, she left 15 years ago after a traumatic event, to investigate the disappearance of her younger brother. Upon arrival, bodies of 5 unidentified children are found in a nearby mangrove swamp. In this small town surrounded by Ocean and mangroves, the name of Mami Wata is on everyone’s lips.

Samantha BIFFOT cofounded in 2010 the company Princesse M Productions. She wrote and directed the series L’oeil de la Cité, which was awarded the best TV series prize at FESPACO in 2013. In 2015, she directed her first full-length documentary film, which was awarded the Special Prize at Escales Documentaires in Libreville. She co-wrote and directed the adaptation of the successful Gabonese TV show Parents Mode d’Emploi.

Wara

Synopsis. Professor of Law at the University, Moutari is running for municipal elections. Prompted by Aïcha, a brilliant student, he undertakes to defend the cause of young people in demand for change. Mariam Shugger, a professor of science, is arrested while in class and charged with the murder of her husband. This triggers astonishment and anger among the students who are already tired of waiting for their scholarship. Aïcha who entered into politics to stand for women’s conditions learns that Shugger is her mother.

Synopsis

But Mossane’s ambition goes beyond the borders of her ghetto, she dreams of independence, freedom and a fairer world.

Fatoumata KANDE, aka Fatou Kandé Senghor, studied Languages, Civilizations and Filmography at Charles De Gaulle University in France. She is an artist and director of creative documentary, TV series and fictional films. She is also a photo/video trainer for young people out of the traditional learning system. Ten years back, she founded Waru Studio, an art place for young artists, filmmakers and researchers to explore interconnection between art, technology and politics.

Voyage de Rêve

Synopsis

In Gagnoa, incorrigible Sea Dangah is organizing a tourist circuit he calls “Dream Trip”. Rachelle Adigri, Sea’s possessive fiancée wants to be part of the trip at all costs. A few hours before departure, Sea discovers the burn-out old car – badjan “Mollo Mollo, only the finish counts!” – which he inherits for his trip. It’s a disaster! Sea doesn’t know that he is having in his hands the loot from the robbery of the biggest pastry of Gagnoa which Bassolé́ Kangah concealed in the old car.

Marina NIAVA is an emerging award-winning filmmaker and writer. A graduate of Journalism and Audio-visual Production, Marina trained in writing and filmmaking at San Francisco Academy of Art in California. She has directed several shorts (Twenty-one; Worse; Noirs au soleil levant) and a web series. She has created the soap opera Twenty-one (2019), co-directing many episodes. The travelling comedy Voyage de rêve provided an opportunity to reveal her talents as a director on a TV series.

Synopsis

It is school holiday and Tiky could not fulfil her dream for lack of means: joining her father in a country in the sub-region. She has to stay with her grandmother and help her with her small cake business. This little holiday activity will lead Tiky into a mysterious world of glamour, elegance, full of joy, sadness, pitfalls and of no-return: the world of fashion and modelling.

Synopsis

A small crowd of people in the streets of a market. Two private cars are parked ready by the crowd, the drivers amazed by a show. Indeed, in the middle of the crowd stands a 13-year-old girl named Mina, dressed in a loincloth tied at the waist and a sleeveless bodysuit top revealing her shoulders and back. On her back, small traces of bullying, bruises that no one notices because everyone’s attention is on something else.

Ebenezer KEPOMBA, aka Mitoumba, was born on 19 May 1970 in Bazou, western region of Cameroon. He holds a degree in German Literature and Civilization and is a German teacher by training. He taught for 15 years in high schools and colleges in Cameroon. He actually began his artistic career in 2003 by creating the troupe Les déballeurs. Initially he was both a scriptwriter and an actor, writing and performing roles in several films and series.

Synopsis

Billy Manga runs with his father the “MANGA’S TECHNOLOGIES”, a company officially specializing in news technologies, while in reality it is a shell company in the smuggling of prohibited goods. La villa d’a cote (Saison 2)

Synopsis

« La villa d’à côté » tells the story of four young girls in their thirties who share the same apartment. All four of them arrived in this house for various reasons, some left the university campus while others left home. The four girls take part in an unusual casting following which they are selected to occupy the villa next door.

JACQUES TRABI GOHI has a University Diploma of Technology in Chemistry from INSET in Abidjan. In 1990, he obtained his Diploma in Film studies, specializing in filmmaking from ESRA. Trabi has scripted several films and documentaries from 2005 to 2015, including Le voleur and Sans regret. L’amour en bonus is his debut feature film.

Director, script and writer DJA DAMIEN DALLY has worked on several films. He co-directed the sitcom La villa d’à côté and directed the TV series J’ai l’honneur on employment.

Synopsis
